PhotoSensitive, a non-profit, national collective of photographers determined to explore how photography can contribute to dialogue and impact on important issues of the day, has partnered with the Canadian Cancer Society and kubik inc. to create Cancer Connections - a unique photographic exhibit that documents the broad range of how cancer affects the lives of countless Canadians.
Currently traveling across Canada, the photo exhibit documents and explores a wide range of emotions associated with cancer such as sadness, loss, hope and redemption.
The collection of gripping photos is housed in a series of simple, modernist overhead structures, which form an arbor or tunnel that enables observers to pass through, surrounded by photos on all sides. The clean, simple design of the photo structures helps to underscore the power of the photos and personal stories.
Designed and constructed by kubik, who most recently produced showcase galleries at the ROM, the Newseum in Washington DC and are a lead agency at Transformation AGO, the exhibit construction is a simple but extremely effective and welcoming display that puts the focus on the photos.
