Kubik Helps Shell Explore for New Talent
Amsterdam, June 14, 2007 - Royal Dutch Shell, one of the worlds most well known energy and petrochemical companies, hired Kubik Inc. to provide design-build expertise for Shell Exploration and Production and for Shell Chemicals.
Designing an engaging environment to promote Shell Exploration and Production at the European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers Conferences (EAGE) – the arm of their company that drills for oil miles under the bottom of the ocean – was an appealing challenge for Kubik.
Two distinct areas for the Shell environment were created. A semi-closed off area provided an environment for in-depth presentations, personal interviews and relationship building. And an open area was created to clearly communicate the Shell Exploration and Production brand. This area utilized an integrated high-tech 3D display system with an interactive, hands-on display unit. Participants were invited to navigate a fully functioning probe through multi-layers of sand to find and identify minerals - much like what geophysicists would do on-site and in laboratories.
Paul R. Wood, Geophysicist Shell, complimented Kubik stating, “the overall impression of the stand design and functionality was excellent,” with Shell receiving many compliments on the final product.
Kubik has taken care of Shell’s participation at the EAGE Conference in Vienna (Nov 06) and London (June 07).
Shell Chemicals sought Kubik’s design-build expertise to create a modular and interactive exhibit to attract students to the booth and to recruit staff for their Netherlands operations in Moerdijk and Pernis.
Kubik designed and built a modular 48 square meter environment that used a Shell Pipeline computer game as its centrepiece. The interactive game challenged visitors to build a working pipeline in a short period of time. If the pipeline was not properly constructed and could not properly transport water, the game was over.
“The game worked great, we’ve got a lot of positive reactions from it,” said Heleen Terpstra, Attraction & Jetnet Manager at Shell Visual Media Services. “There were so many visits to our environment - we are very pleased with the contacts we generated with our interactive display.”
This successful stand made its debut at the Skills Masters Show on March 2007 in Rotterdam and will now be used at other trade and career fairs throughout the Netherlands.
