Kubik Reinforces ROM Make-Over with Captivating Design
Canadian Company’s expertise helps unify interior exhibits and environments

Toronto, May 10, 2006 Creators of exceptional environments and one of the principal contractors for Toronto’s Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), Kubik Inc., is providing design development and fabrication expertise to the newly renovated galleries as part of the Renaissance ROM project.

“We helped build several galleries in the ROM over the last 20 years,” says Sam Kohn, Kubik’s CEO.  “We bring the same enthusiasm, focus and eye for detail to the current ROM project to create an environment where people can really enjoy and experience history.”

Twenty-seven new and redesigned permanent galleries, housing approximately 27,000 objects will be created through Renaissance ROM, scheduled to be completed by 2008.  Kubik one of three principal contractors, is helping to create the unique galleries by providing interior furnishings for each display case and installing custom millwork barriers and graphics throughout.

The ROM’s new space is a testament to how these contractors seamlessly merged the exhibit design of visual aspects, gallery display cases, signage, colour selection, object presentation, lighting, climate control and furnishings to create a coherent and enjoyable experience for museum visitors.

Kubik faced many challenges when creating the ROM environments including executing a design intent to the level of detail that a museum like the ROM required.  “The Renaissance ROM gallery development project requires an experienced, creative and versatile exhibit millwork and graphics producer who could work to the highest international standards.  Kubik (Toronto) meets all these qualifications, is well known to the ROM, and won a competitive tender for this project with their fine submission and excellent price,” says Dan Rahimi, Executive Director of Gallery Development, ROM.
