Waterloo Regional Children’s Museum Grand Opening
~ Kubik Inc. Key Partner in Museum’s Revitalization Project ~

Toronto, September 20th, 2007 – A realistic 25 meter long streetscape that helps children learn about music, food, movies and culture is one of the new exhibits designed and delivered by Kubik Inc. for the grand opening Waterloo Regional Children’s Museum.

Kubik, a Toronto firm with an expertise in creating museum and gallery exhibits, is one of the key partners in the newly revitalized Waterloo Regional Children's Museum.

“The urban streetscape exhibit is all about creating an engaging, fun environment for kid-friendly activities,” said David Marskell, executive director of the Waterloo Regional Children's Museum. “We’re hopeful that this space will bring together children and ideas in an interactive way that will produce some great cross-fertilization and fun.”

In order to bring the streetscape to life, Kubik created an eighty foot long façade with a number of interesting treatments to give the streetscape a feeling of vitality and depth, including a concrete sidewalk, a movie theatre marquee with art deco tiles and actual steps, a record shop that utilizes creative graphic treatments to create the illusion of depth and a hotel front.

“We are very pleased to be collaborating on this great museum revitalization project. Like the museum and the kids it will serve, our firm is known for its creativity and imaginative solutions,” said Sam Kohn, President, Kubik. “From the interactive streetscape to the state of the art multimedia centre, the museum will not only educate and entertain kids, it will act as a great resource for the region.”

Kubik is currently working on Phase II at the museum, an interactive digital media centre, which will occupy the top floor of the museum. The media centre will include an operational broadcast centre, a video-conferencing classroom, fully operational post-production and editing suites, on-line studios and a chromakey/ bluescreen studio as traditionally used by weather forecasters.
