Kubik Creates a Spectacular to Launch Rabo Mobile
~ Eight Meter Tall Floating Mobile Phone Promotes New Banking Service ~

Amsterdam, November 24, 2006 - In an effort to provide 24 hour, mobile banking combined with low-cost calling, the Netherlands’ Rabobank has developed a new service, the Rabo Mobile. As the first bank in Europe to provide such a service, Rabobank needed an exciting visual experience that communicated the key features of Rabo Mobile to employees, customers and the press – and Kubik delivered.

The PR agency Publicis Consultants van Sluis launched the campaign and approached Kubik to create an 8-meter high life-like mobile phone that floated on a small barge on the rivers of Amsterdam. The phone featured a text screen that shared the campaign message, “Rabo Mobile: banking and calling with your mobile.”

For the mid-November event, the famous field hockey player Fatima Moreiro de Melo and racing cyclist Michael Boogerd, both of whom are sponsored by Rabobank, were on hand to launch the new product. While fireworks burst in the air and a state of the art light show flashed over the phone, the two athletes unveiled the covered cell phone on the barge on the waters of Amsterdam. The ‘mobile’ medium of a floating mobile phone effectively communicated the benefits of Rabo Mobile service spreading the word throughout the Netherlands during a floating promotion tour.

“This was our first time working for the Rabobank and it was a great project. We were able to bring many elements together to highlight their new service, including great design, mobility and fun,” said Hajo Reinders, Managing Director, Kubik Europe.

Rabobank is the first bank in Europe to introduce mobile banking and low-cost calling in one with Rabo Mobile. This new service is in line with the current transition from 'going to the bank during opening hours' to 'the bank that is accessible anytime, anywhere'. Rabobank is also offering its customers an attractive and transparent calling rate with Rabo Mobile.
